Therapy Services

  • Speech/Articulation

    Correct production of developmental speech sounds in order to be clearly understood by others. This includes a range of speech issues from simple sound errors to more complex speech/motor planning difficulties such as Speech Apraxia.

  • Receptive and Expressive Language

    Receptive – understanding and comprehending incoming information, words and gestures which is developed first. Expressive – the ability to successfully communicate wants, needs, thoughts and ideas in a clear and concise manner.

  • Literacy Skills

    Expanding a child’s knowledge of reading, spelling and writing in order to develop their thinking and learning. This process is fundamental to achieving competence in every educational subject.

  • Phonological and Phonemic Awareness

    Phonological – includes identifying individual words in a sentence, recognizing syllables, rhyming and alliteration. Phonemic – identifying and manipulating individual sounds including segmenting sounds and blending sounds.

  • Social Pragmatic Language

    Understanding and navigating a variety of social situations including perspective taking, making friends, understanding emotions, negotiating, problem solving, working in a group and nonverbal communication.

  • Auditory Processing and Language Processing

    Successfully acquiring and attaching meaning to incoming information in order to sort, organize, retain, interpret and retrieve verbal or nonverbal information to generate a response.

  • Central Auditory Processing (CAPD)

    Involves the central nervous system and how it processes auditory information. The brain identifies incoming sounds and makes an analysis of those sounds and attaches meaning to them. Diagnosis is provided by an Audiologist.

  • Fluency and Stuttering

    Producing an uninterrupted flow of speech without repeating parts of words, whole words and/or prolonging sounds in words. Children often know what they want to say but may have trouble producing a normal flow of speech.

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

    Any way a person communicates without talking. Assistive technology devices can be used for temporary or permanent communication for students with and without speech and language disorders.

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

    A developmental disorder including a wide range of symptoms, skills and levels of strengths and weaknesses. People with ASD may behave, communicate, interact and learn in ways that are different from most other people.
